French Toast - Many Ways
French toast, a hot breakfast food that can be made so many ways. Of course, the trusted way would be to dip two slices of bread into beaten eggs and slowly fry them. All you need to revise this recipe is a few simple ingredients and your own imagination.
1) Cinnamon French Toast - whip cinnamon into the egg or sprinkle on the bread after dipping into the egg and fry as usual.
2) Cream French-Cheesy - Spread cream cheese on one slice of bread. Top with a second slice to make a sandwich. Then dip in egg mixture and cook as usual.
3) Jellied French Toast - Spread jelly on one slice of bread. Top with second slice, dip in egg mixture and cook as usual. You can also crimp the edges all around the sandwich before dipping in the egg mixture which tends to hold the jelly in a little better.
4) Powdered French Toast - Spread one piece of bread with jelly, jam or preserves, poppy seed or prune filling (even cream cheese). Fold the slice in half and dip in egg mixture. Cook as usual. When slightly cooled, sprinkle both sides generously with powdered sugar. When I make this version, I usually use an entire loaf of white bread. These are good eaten hot or cold later as a snack.
I never add milk or water to my egg mixture. This tends to give the french toast a richer color and a little more substantial. Adding water or milk makes the eggs look like light lemon and doesn't fry as substantially. Just use your imagination to come up with other great combos; get creative.

Sure, gimme the creme cheese and jelly, but I want some fruit dumped on top. Gobble, gobble, yum! Thanks for sharing!
